Many of the credits from the associate degree will transfer smoothly. In addition, graduates who have been working in the healthcare field for a while may be able to receive credit for work experience, reducing the time it takes to earn a bachelor’s degree.*

Coursework for the associate degree

Students in the AAS degree program in medical administrative assisting complete general education courses that strengthen analysis, communication and presentation skills. They take core requirements that cover the following topics:

  • Anatomy
  • Health Care Law
  • Medical Transcription
  • Medical Office Procedures

Part-time or online — it’s your choice

The core classes also include business, keyboarding and MS Office Professional courses. Students also choose from electives approved by the Dean of Students. This degree program can be completed in 18 months of full-time study. Students may take some of the classes through our online division or study part-time. Our flexible scheduling options make it possible for students to earn degrees even when they have demanding jobs, family responsibilities or long commutes to campus.
