Earn a Medical Assistant Degree or Diploma

When you are a medical assistant, you are on the front lines of patient care. You are usually the first person to see a patient. Depending on the setting, you may also be the last. You are often the face of the clinic or office. At Globe University-Middleton, we offer two programs that train you for this rewarding career.

Career opportunities for medical assistants

Students can look forward to positions in medical organizations such as the following:

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Laboratory Assistant
  • Phlebotomist
  • Radiology Technician-Limited Scope
  • Clinic Supervisor

Medical assistants perform a variety of tasks, including:

  • Answering patient questions
  • Passing along physician instructions to patients
  • Preparing patients for tests and exams
  • Taking and recording blood pressure and other vital signs
  • Drawing blood and collecting lab specimens
  • Entering patient information on an online medical records system
  • Translating medical information into everyday language for patients

Program developed by professionals in the field

We designed our diploma and degree programs with the help of experienced professionals in the allied health field. They also evaluate our programs regularly to ensure that we deliver the education and training that employers seek.

Certification — the next step

Our graduates are prepared to take the exam that leads to the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential. Medical assistants with this certification are sought-after and well paid. This is an important consideration for students who hope to earn that certification. Both the diploma and the degree in medical assistant require students to complete a CMA review seminar. Associate degree students complete a course that prepares them for the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam offered by the ARRT. We encourage students to apply for our Profesional Certification Scholarship to defray the costs of these certification exams.
